CFCI Mangalore celebrated its 10th Family Day at Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Hall, Urwa on Sunday 15th December 2013. The celebrations began with the hosts Pradeep Cornelio and Primal Cornelio welcoming the gathering. This was followed by some action songs by the music ministry were everyone was found singing and dancing along with the band.
Mr. Paul Andrade led the community through a reflection of the past 10 years involving the initial formative years, the growth of CFC, the difficulties, challenges & struggles faced by the community as well as a community member.
Mr. Victor Correia then led the community into praise and worship. Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore, celebrated the Holy Eucharist. Rev. Fr. Victor D’Mello, Parish Priest of Urva and the Spiritual Director of CFCI, along with Rev. Fr. Santhosh Rodrigues, Director of Family Life Service Centre, were the co celebrants. In his homily, Fr. Victor D’Mello reflected on the CFCI theme for the year ‘I Believe’ which he shared was derived from the verse
“The work of God is this: to believe in the one whom he has sent” – John 6:29.
The Bishop then addressed the community and in his message he appreciated the good work done by CFCI community and encouraged the members to move ahead with renewed zeal. He stressed the importance of such communities especially today, as the foundation of family is being destroyed. He stressed that being a member of the CFCI is a ‘Call’ and it requires living life and leading through example as an individual and also as a family.
As part of the cultural program in the afternoon, the community from Bondel entertained the community with short skits. The performance was very entertaining and had the entire community rolling with laughter.
This was followed by games conducted by Debbie Locker, Dinha D’silva and Mike D`silva.
