‘He will purify the descendants of Levi and refine them like gold and silver’ – Malachi 3:3
A refiner’s fire melts down the bar of silver or gold, separates out the impurities that ruin its value, burns them up, and leaves the silver and gold intact.
Jesus wishes to do exactly the same in our lives. Remove all the sin and filth that stains us, that makes us impure and unholy.
For too long we have been like gold or silver, very pleasing to the world outside but on the inside, our many sins and impurities have taken us far away from God.
As we near the nativity, let us pray earnestly and ask the Lord to cleanse us from everything impure and make us more and more like Him.
