Help my Unbelief

Even though we know faith works wonders, do we doubt that our belief in Jesus will let us do greater things? Don’t we know that with God working through us nothing is impossible? Yet, we hesitate to step out boldly, as commissioned.

At these times Jesus reiterates his constant teaching,

“everything is possible to one who has faith” (mark9:23b)

We B.E.L.I.E.V.E that Jesus has risen, that he has already conquered the enemy, that he will return as a victorious king. We have experienced his grace. But even then we know our faith has to deepen and therefore we pray.

“I do believe, help my unbelief!” (Mk 9:24b)

When the disciples couldn’t drive out the mute spirit, it was perhaps due to their past success or lack of reliance on God’s power. Jesus brings them back to the basics, that is, his works require prayer. It means meeting and knowing Christ. It is a necessity if we are to live Christ, share Christ, and do the work of evangelization. When we live in Christ and he in us, we can ask anything in Jesus’ name and it will be granted and we will experience faith that works wonders.

Jesus relies on us to continue his work of assaulting the dominion of the enemy in the world. When he returns, Jesus will only have what we have worked to secure for him.

About Frank Padilla

Founder of the Couples for Christ (CFC) community. Way back in 1981, CFC was started through the initiative of the Ang Ligaya ng Panginoon Community (LNP). In January 1981, LNP gathered 16 couples who went through a Life in the Spirit Seminar, with the intent of bringing them into LNP. But instead they were kept together for a few months after the program, until it was decided that a new group would be established to emphasize family life renewal. It would be an outreach of LNP. Frank and Gerry Padilla were among the 16 couples that became members in June of 1981 when CFC was born. Frank quickly emerged to be a top leader, and in 1985, he was already the Executive Director, running the day-to-day work of the whole community. In 1986 he went full-time for CFC and has been serving the community since, through two separate splits the community saw. Today he serves as the Servant General of CFC-FFL (Couples for Christ-Foundation for Family and Life). Know more about the founder at CFC-FFL
