Hidden Treasures

I will give you the treasures of darkness and riches hidden in secret places, so that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by your name. (Isaiah 45:3)

Before I joined the community of CFCI-Singles Caranzalem, I used to work as a travel consultant for a travel agency in Panjim and I was a part time photographer as well. During the Christian Life Seminar (CLS) it was really difficult for me to attend all the sessions due to my hectic work schedule. I however, did not want to miss any session, so I prayed to God hoping that he would somehow solve this predicament. He did so in a most amazing way; by helping me get that day of the week, permanently off.

After being in the community for a while, I built up a strong prayer time, began reading scripture and also started spending a lot of time in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament. During my prayer time, I began to lift up certain desires of mine to the Lord. I always wanted to become a wedding photographer but didn’t know if that would ever work out. I asked a lot of my community members to pray for me as well.

One fine day, I received a call from a friend of mine who is a professional wedding photographer. He asked me if I would like to assist him for a couple of weddings, to which I immediately said yes. It seemed like the answer to my prayers. However, there was still a major issue looming in the background. My job! Because I used to work afternoon shifts and getting leave was an issue as well.

I didn’t know what to do so I continued to pray and kept trusting that God had greater plans for me. I decided to quit my full time job and ask my boss if I could continue working for him, only part time. To my astonishment, he agreed. I could see God’s loving hand over me, leading and guiding me.

After I quit my job, my family was a little worried about my decision to start wedding photography and they were concerned as to whether I would get enough of business. I however, put my trust in the Lord and was not afraid. The Lord continued to bless me with a lot of opportunities to work with my friend on wedding shoots. I could also feel the mighty presence of the Lord protecting and guiding me, inspiring me and leading me to greener pastures.

We read in

Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.

I truly believe that the Lord has blessed me in ways that I could never have imagined. He opened up areas in my life that I wasn’t confident enough to venture into on my own and revealed to me my hidden talents.

I had many plans and desires of my own, but it was only when I was able to place my complete trust in the Lord that He helped me to achieve something wonderful. As the prophet Isaiah writes,

“For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:9)
