Laudate RYC 2015

The CFCI Regional Youth Conference was held from the 13th to 15th of November, 2015 at The Kings School, Goa. Laudate – A Pleasing Sacrifice was the theme of the conference, which aimed at teaching the CFCI Youth how to praise God and the importance of praise in their lives.

Around 150 youth and formators from Mumbai, Mangalore, Bangalore and Goa attended the conference. The hosts for the conference were Elroy Marques and Tara Saldanha, CFCI Singles from Bangalore. The three days were packed with a lot of fun and enjoyment as it included many sessions, activities, competitions and most importantly prayer.

The conference started at 8am with breakfast. After breakfast the CFCI youth gathered in the hall where ‘First Aid‘ the official band of the conference taught the delegates new gospel songs and led them into worship. The first session was given by Joshua Cordeiro on ‘Praise, a pleasing sacrifice‘. Joshua explained what is praise, when should we praise and what happens when we fail to praise and taught the youth how they need to praise God for who He is. After a quick lunch, the day continued with various conference competitions like treasure hunt, group singing, street art, bible quiz and many others where every delegate had to take part in at least one competition. Fr. Valmiki then celebrated the mass. After mass, Erushka de Sousa gave the second session on the ‘Power of Praise‘. Erushka taught the youth the effects of praise, how praise can be used as a weapon and made everyone realize that God dwells only in the praises of His people. The day ended with walking the word, a biblical ramp walk where the youth participated with great enthusiasm.

On the second day, Dr. Ehrlson de Sousa spoke on Mama Mary whose Heart always praised God. The youth were then divided into two groups to attend workshops conducted by Reuben Carvalho on praising in thought and on praising in word by David D’mello. After which was a time of adoration where the youth spent time in adoration and confession. In the afternoon, four workshops were conducted at four different places within the campus for which the youth were again divided into four groups. First workshop was by Amulya Rodrigues on ‘Trust and Faith‘, the second was by Ehrlson on ‘Humility‘, the third was on ‘Submission‘ by Baptist Dias and fourth on ‘Pure of Heart‘ by Maria Laveena. Fr. Richard Peter then celebrated the mass and the day ended with an entertainment night.

On the last day of the conference, Bro. Kelvin Santis gave the third session on ‘Eucharist- A sacrifice of praise‘. He taught the youth the three acts of the Eucharist – offertory where you offer yourself to Christ, consecration where you die with Christ and the Holy Communion where you are renewed through Christ. After the session, Fr. Valentine celebrated the mass where the youth participated actively bearing in mind all they learnt in the previous session. It was followed by anointing of the Holy Spirit, where all the youth were prayed over by their formators. After lunch, the prize distribution of all the pre-conference and venue competitions was held and just before the youth could depart, they had a wonderful praise fest led by Levin Gomes, praising and worshipping and thanking the Lord.
