Be still, O my Soul

Consumed by deceit and pride,
I lay there worthless and dry.
All hope lost, all strength spent,
Ever so still, perfectly silent?!

O silence! How little I know,
Of the power that rests within you.
For in the stillness of my soul,
You knew me and now I know you.

Come then O gentle spirit, in this sweet silence, come.
Breathe in me Thy life, O breathe in me Thy love.

Rebuild what is broken,
Restore the hope that’s lost.
That I may go where Thou will,
My soul, in Thy presence, still.
