Saints have a unique way of entering into our lives and helping us know more about Jesus Christ simply by the way they lived their lives. Let me recount how I chanced upon the wonderfully simple and grace filled life of St. Isidore, whose feast the church celebrates today.
Our CFCI community in Chennai has the practise of hosting the annual All Saints day celebration. We get the kids dressed up as their favourite saint and join together as a community to celebrate the lives of the saints and thank God for them. Continue reading
Being a parent is by no means an easy task. The key to raising a child who is an all rounder is to establish a solid support system at home so that the child grows up satisfied with his/her achievements. I find this idea extremely challenging.
When I started my parenting journey, I questioned if this was all a big mistake. However, I slowly began to realise that I was seeing it from a different angle. The God I know doesn’t make mistakes. Every year the Chennai community has a Christmas get together but last year we decided to take the message out. We went carolling!
We visited 11 homes that accepted our invitation across Chennai to share the joy of Christmas cheer through music. The families we visited were either a part of our CLS or were the couples that missed attending the CLS. What made it even more special was, our young kids who were all below 8 years, they beautifully displayed a tableau of the Nativity scene while the older kids shared the Word of God. Couples for Christ Chennai organised a weekend couple’s retreat based on the scripture,
“As the Father has loved me I have loved you. Abide in My love.” ~ John 15:9
The retreat was held from 23rd September to 25th September 2016, at Dhyana Ashram in Mylapore. Families across Chennai participated in the retreat. In spite of setbacks, illness and apprehensions 16 families set aside this time for God. Continue reading
