It is Never Too Late!

The little girl was in the garden picking up berries that she was happily eating. She was relishing the sweet-sour taste of the fruit. She picked a bagful of the little treats, which she took home to enjoy.

Some of the berries were dirty, some wormy, some over-ripe and dried up, but she went through as many as she could. As expected, gorging herself on these berries led to her falling sick. Her parents were not too happy and forbade her from picking or eating the berries. Continue reading

The Defects of Jesus

Today’s world is so hell bent on perfection that even a tiny defect is viewed with disdain.

Top brands reject clothes with small flaws, parents abort babies with structural imperfections, pilots are dismissed with even negligible visual failings, army recruits are not selected even if they have insignificant health issues and the list goes on. In short, the world has grown to despise and hate defective people and things.

It is at such a time that the world needs a “defective” role model. Who better to look to than Jesus Christ himself? This statement may shock you, as it did the Roman Curia when Archbishop Francis Van Thuan preached the spiritual exercises in 2000 and among many other things spoke of the 5 defects of Jesus Christ.

An Encounter with Eternity

I had a classmate who frequently suffered from bouts of depression and suicidal thoughts. One day, after unsuccessfully attempting to end her life, she approached me for help. Among many things, I spoke to her about Jesus and his love for us. She did not have many friends but it was this one encounter that apparently transformed her life, as I would find out years later. She is now doing very well in her career, prays regularly and never again has had thoughts of despair or suicide. Continue reading
