The Servant of the Lord

The reading from Isaiah 49:1-6 is very significant as it takes us back to our theme for the year 2011,

“My God is now my strength!” (Is 49:5d)

According to the eternal plan of God, we are destined to carry on our mission from the time we are in our mother’s womb.

God “formed (us) as his servant from the womb” (Is 49:5b).

God’s Purpose

The work of the New Evangelization is to meet Christ, to live Christ, and to share Christ. This is the very purpose God had in creating us. It is through how we relate to God that we are able to meet this purpose.

To meet Christ is to know God: Jesus says that He and the Father are one (Jn 10:30). Jesus says that if we see Him then we have seen the Father (Jn 14:9b). As we encounter Christ in our daily lives and enter into a deeper relationship with Him, we experience the relationship that God wants from us, that of a Father and His children. Continue reading

Afflicted in Everyway

As people of God we are called to evangelize and be in the right spirit. But when we proclaim the Gospel we are sure to be afflicted. As St. Paul says

“We are afflicted in every way, but not constrained; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed” (2 Cor 4:8-9).

We may see persecution from all sides, family, friends, the Church, but we should not give up or allow the evil one to take control of our lives. Continue reading
