“What shall I return to the Lord for all His goodness to me?”
The CFCI community in Chennai had a retreat on 23rd and 24th January 2016 at Dhyana Ashram. The retreat finally took place after great difficulty. Mr. Babu Victor and Mrs. Shilpi Victor who were the facilitators belonged to the Sword of the Spirit community in Bangalore. Mr. Gangai Victor led us into praise and worship during the two day retreat.
The first session on “The Work of the Cross” and the role of Jesus in the forgiveness of sins of all mankind was beautifully explained. We were then invited to seek the Lord’s pardon and mercy through the sacrament of confession and also forgive others irrespective of the gravity of sin committed or hurt incurred. This was a very moving experience and everyone felt as if a burden had been lifted and had been replaced with the peace of Christ.
The next session was on accepting life and the people in it without complaining or grumbling. It was an eye opener to all, to see God’s hand at work in our lives, pruning us to be His people. The participants were encouraged to welcome God into more spheres of their life and nourish it with the Word of God, sacraments and personal prayer.
The final session on parenting was very useful to all the young parents, as the need to keep communication lines with children open and strong was emphasized. All participants were amazed at the answers received to all their doubts during each of the sessions. The children too had a lovely time with all the open space to play.
We were all grateful to the Lord Almighty for the numerous graces received during the retreat and for helping us renew our relationship with God, family and community.
“Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
