GDSC 2015

The most awaited Community event “The Goa District Servants Conference (GDSC) 2015“, was held at Fr. Agnel Ashram,Verna on 26th July 2015. The service team gathered to praise and worship our God before the event could officially start. The venue was creatively decorated with amazing flower arrangements and a backdrop that was befitting of the theme of the Conference.

The participants bonded over breakfast and gathered in the Audio Visual Hall as First AID, the band welcomed them with song. The hosts for the day Tina Costa from the Margao Cluster and Joaquim Fernandes from the Calangute cluster were welcomed by Delvyn Lobo, the Voiceover for the GDSC.

The MC’s then introduced themselves and provided instructions for the program. Bruce Fernandes from the Margao cluster, the event head for GDSC declared the conference open by introducing the theme – Sacrifice of Praise.

Deepak Dourado, from Vasco sector led the gathering into a time of praise and worship after which the prophecies were read by Ana Menezes from the Margao cluster.

Following this was the first session of the day given by Constantino D’Sa from the Panjim cluster. It was on the theme Sacrifice of Praise.

There was a musical dance depicting the theme. It was well choreographed and acted by the Panjim cluster. They also acted out a skit depicting the theme: “Praising God in all circumstances“.

Theresa Soares along with Leo Soares, her husband came to share instances of how amazing God had been in their areas of service, where they saw their efforts bear fruit after they started taking intercession more seriously.

The Holy Eucharist was celebrated by Fr. Santana Carvalho, the parish priest of Socorro. The choir, comprising of the CFCI Singles from Santa Cruz, did an amazing job. Fr Santana Carvalho was offered a bouquet of flowers after the mass.

Next, everyone headed for lunch. Post lunch, First Aid -the music ministry gathered everyone back to the hall for a couple of songs. Orlando Mascarenhas from Porvorim Chapter conducted a small group game to awaken the crowd post a sumptuous lunch.

A nun residing in Satarda chapter testified about the work done by CFCI in her parish. She briefly spoke on how in various capacities, CFCI was continuously working to bring families in her parish to be working models of small Christian communities.

The new full time pastoral workers were also given a formal welcome on stage by everyone at the conference. All the new missionaries: Florence Ekka from West Bengal, Maria Laveena from Bangalore, Kelvin Castelino from Bangalore and Titus Cruz from Goa, were called upon the stage.

The second session was given in English by A. V. Jose from Patna and translated to Konkani by Francis Araujo on the theme – “Mary, A Heart that Praises“. His entire session centered on Mother Mary, depicting her as a person with Humility, Trust and Submission.

Vivian D’Souza also shared a part of his life about trusting God for the choices he made, and totally trusting God to answer the desires of his heart. He also shared about how he taught his son to totally trust in God.

After this, Elvis Coutinho and his wife Maclean Coutinho led a consecration prayer, to Our Most Loving Mother Mary while all the sector servants walked down the aisle with their wives carrying lit candles.This was followed by the Praise Fest conducted by Levin Gomes, a member of the music ministry which had everyone dancing and praising God
The hosts thanked all those who helped make the conference possible and wished everyone a safe journey home. The participants said their goodbyes over tea. The conference ended with the MC’s thanking one and all.
