“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity”
~ Psalm 133:1
Indeed, CFCI Chennai’s Family Day, celebrated on 18th November 2018, at Sacred Heart Matriculation School, Anna Salai was a day of charismatic unity. Whether a toddler or a grandparent, single or married; Family Day had something exciting for everyone. It was a day filled with love and joy. A day when every community member replaced their work and worry with faith, fun and fellowship.
This wonderful day began with a vibrant Saint’s parade by the CFCI Kids Ministry. Everyone present was enchanted by their costumes and the sheer enthusiasm with which the kids enacted their saint’s character. The four corners aptly labelled Doctors of the Church, Founders of the Church, Martyrs and Young Saints were thoroughly informative.
The march was followed by the celebration of the Holy Eucharist by Father Joe Andrew. In keeping with the spirit of Family Day, the homily of the Holy Mass was based on serving and doing everything out of love in all that we do. Keeping with the theme, Chennai’s No One In Need Ministry unveiled the “Kindness Kit”, a gift pack to share with those that are homeless.
The rest of the day involved a scrumptious lunch with friends and family, a cultural program and several exciting games for everyone. If that was not enough – cupcakes, sandwiches, cutlets, tea and lemonade were sold to raise funds. The Singles and Couples put on their dancing shoes and captivated the crowd by dancing to contemporary gospel pop music. Watching their dance showed how young at heart you can be when all you need is music. Between each lively performance was a series of short games for the Kids, Youth, Singles and the Couples. The Music Ministry kept the energy levels soaring as they culminated the day with a power-packed praise fest.
It truly was an awe-inspiring sight to see people come together and strengthen their bond as a family and as a community while keeping Christ at the center. Like most CFCI celebrations, CFCI Chennai’s Family Day 2018 ended with members retreating home with greater faith in Christ, and the sweet memories of the day that they’ll cherish for years to come. Everyone was given a picture of the day to keep the memory fresh.
A fun day and lots to look forward until the next Family Day.
