The Family day in Mangalore was held on 17th September 2015. The program was held in the evening, 4pm onwards, for the first time in Mangalore, prompting it to be informally known as family ‘evening’.
The event began with the Eucharistic celebration at Our Lady of Miracles Church, Milagres celebrated by the bishop of Mangalore, Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’souza. The bishop in his address acknowledged the work done by CFCI and wished success in reaching out to more families in the coming years.
The members of CFCI then assembled at the hall and participated in the gathering song led by the music ministry. Mr. Melvin and Mrs. Neetha Fernandes were the MC’s and compered the event with the sync of a seasoned couple. Those assembled were welcomed by the area servant Mr. Gerald Castelino. The event opening was done by Mr. Paul Andrade amidst cheers from the crowd.
Two couples, Mr. George and Mrs. Jacintha Boremeo & Mr. Leslie and Mrs. Deborah Locker were then invited to share their testimony. They testified to the wonderful things God had done in their lives and about how CFCI had changed them and helped their families come closer to God. It was truly inspiring and reflected the theme which was ‘Sacrifice of Praise‘.
Following this, the spiritual director for Mangalore area, Fr. Victor D’Mello spoke to the gathering. He reflected on the journey of CFCI in Mangalore and shared his aspirations for the community. This concluded the formal part of the program.
After this, to the delight of those gathered, a variety of skits, songs and dances were performed as part of the variety entertainment program. All members of CFCI were divided into 4 groups according to the area they belonged to. All the groups were very enthusiastic to perform, keen to outshine the other groups and claim the top prize for their area. Once the prizes were given out, everyone gathered back for praise and worship led by Mr. Alex Serrao. The program concluded with dinner. All in all, it was a memorable day for all part of CFCI Mangalore.
