Navjeevan – RYC 2018

CFCI Regional Hindi Youth Conference 2018 was held from October 26 to October 28 at the Divine Renewal Retreat Centre, Margherita, Assam. Around 242 Youth from 18 chapters across West Bengal, Orissa & Assam were in attendance along with 28 couples who were their Youth Formators.

The conference theme “Navjeevan” was inspired by the verse of the year – Matthew 11: 28-30.

While everyone was sceptical about the number of attendees, keeping in mind that the schools had just reopened, it wasn’t less of a miracle to see such a huge turnout. The outstation delegates arrived much earlier during the day and a majority of the local delegates started trickling in, during the afternoon. It was a pleasant sight to see them all arrive chapter wise having travelled quite a distance to make it. The air was filled with excitement.

Eleven service team members, comprising of Young Couples and Singles from across India, were already on their toes attending to the delegates. The delegates were seen mingling around with such affinity and togetherness.

Day 1 – Friday, October 26, 2018
Everyone woke up to a chilly morning all set to begin the day in reciting the Rosary and personal prayers.

Praise & Worship was led by Basil Cardoza. The MCs for the event, Aaron & Mariya, got the conference rolling, with the crowd roll, verse chant and so on.

Post breakfast, every chapter made an entry with a Praise Parade. They truly showed their talents with great enthusiasm by putting up an amazing show, giving glory to God. Following this, Bro Vincent Thomas, District Servant of Assam & Arunachal welcomed Rev. Bishop Joseph Aind, Bishop of Dibrugarh with a traditional welcome dance. The Bishop celebrated the Holy Eucharist which was followed by the inaugural ceremony.

Lunch was served, and the afternoon session commenced with the Divine Mercy at 3:00 p.m. A power packed Praise & Worship led by Kiran Kerketta from West Bengal filled the Youth with energy and excitement to the sessions ahead. The Youth Formators had their session conducted simultaneously by Jeswin & Lavisha, during this time.

The 1st Session – ‘The Invitation’ was given by Lactus Fernandes who spoke about how we are invited by Jesus to rest in Him from our burdens. He gave practical examples on burdens which lead to the 3Ds of Distraction, Discouragement and Doubt. He also invited two people to share testimonies on their burdens and how they accepted the rest they were invited to.

Post Dinner, it was time to end the day with a Praise Fest led by the Music Ministry. The energy with which everyone was singing was so contagious that the service team also couldn’t resist themselves from joining them in dancing. It was nothing short of a rock fest.

Day 2 – Saturday, October 27, 2018
The day kick-started with the Rosary and a Spirit-filled Praise & Worship led by Om Prakash from West Bengal.

The 2nd session ‘Yoked to Freedom’ was given by Mary Barla who explained how we need to be Yoked to Jesus to lighten our burdens. The 3 lies that Satan wants us to believe to prevent us from being Yoked to Jesus was portrayed with role plays followed by an explanation of what the truth is. She also invited a person to share his testimony on how being Yoked to Jesus and letting Him take control of his life brought order and direction to the sharer’s life.

Adoration and a time for confessions followed breakfast. The Adoration that was led by Poonam saw most Youth in tears, touched and moved by the life of rest that Jesus has invited them to accept by being Yoked to Him.

Simultaneously, the Youth Formators had another session conducted for them. Mass was then celebrated by Rev. Fr. Deonish before we broke up for lunch.

The afternoon session began with Divine Mercy at 3:00 p.m and Benjamin Kandulna led the participants through a wonderful Praise & Worship. There was a time for open sharing where a lot of Youth came forward to speak on how God touched them.

Meditating on scriptures involves 5 steps – Invoke, Read, Meditate, Pray, Contemplate. This is known as Lectio Divina which was beautifully explained by Sheetal Coyne from CFCI Couples, Chennai.

The final session of the conference ‘Navjeevan’ was given by Jeovito. The session focused on Meekness, Humility, Obedience, being led by the Holy Spirit, Trust and Surrender – 6 attributes to be learnt from Jesus in order to get the rest we need. The day ended with dinner followed by a Praise Fest.

Day 3 – Sunday, October 28, 2018
