Have you ever felt the calling to be an intercessor?
Some may say yes while others may wonder, “What does an intercessor actually do“? Well, an intercessor stands in the gap for another person, seeking mercy instead of judgment, life over death; they plead with God for the sake of others. Intercession involves taking hold of God’s will and refusing to let go until His will comes to pass.
The call to intercession is one we must heed and the community is looking for volunteers who will commit to praying for the country, in addition to the regular intercessory responsibility of each chapter. A few of the spiritual disciplines that one can adopt are:
- Once a week Fasting(Full Day/One Meal)
- Daily visits to the Blessed Sacrament
- Daily Rosary
- Daily Mass
- Reading the Word of God aloud(few specific chapters)
- Daily Divine Mercy Chaplet
The book of Ezekiel 22:31 says,
“I looked for someone among them who would build up the wall and stand before me in the gap on behalf of the land so I would not have to destroy it, but I found no one.”
Let us be the wall that bridges the gap, and stand before God on behalf of His people, pleading that he has mercy on us and this land that we live in.
The Lord gave us one of the mightiest prayers in Matthew 6:9-13.
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.”
As prayer warriors, let us place certain intentions at the feet of Jesus,
- Leaders of the Country (Baruk 3:1-9) – Political as well as Spiritual (Church, organizations)
To begin with we must declare that Jesus Christ is Lord of our families, our homes, our schools, our towns, our cities, and our nation and of heaven and earth.
We can thank the Lord for our nation and pray for revival and transformation to come and to grant our nation the gift of repentance and bring healing to the land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)
We can pray for our nation, state and local government leaders and churchleaders according to 1 Timothy 2:1-2, and anoint them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. We must pray that the decisions they make are in tune with Jesus’ will so that they will benefit the nation as a whole.
We must also pray for the youth, who are the next generation of leaders. (Psalm 71:5, Jeremiah 3:4). We must pray that God raises up capable and responsible leaders from the younger generation who can take over the reins of leadership from the current leaders.
- Evangelization & Growth in Faith – For an encounter with Jesus through Repentance
We can pray for a great proclamation of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ in our nation and all over the world. We can also pray for missionaries in India and throughout the world who work tirelessly and selflessly to spread God’s Word without caring about their own safety and protection.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
~ John 3:16
We can pray for the multiplication of prayer in our nation and the world (Luke 18:1). We must pray for all those people who are losing faith and moving away from the church, those people who have given up on God and His existence.
- Persecuted Church
We must pray for our persecuted brothers and sisters around the world who share our faith, but not the freedom to practice their religion.
When one part of the body suffers, every part suffers.
~ 1 Corinthians 12:26
So many of our brothers and sisters around the world are persecuted due to their Christian beliefs. Many of them lose their lives due to violence and religious intolerance. We must pray for all these brethren, that Jesus may give them the grace and strength to face the ordeals of daily life.
- CFCI Community Prayer Concerns
We ought to pray for the various requests and petitions of the community which will be conveyed to you via text messages or Whatsapp. These include the prayer concerns of the area which will be assigned to you.
People are in constant need of prayer support so your duty as an intercessor will be to help them raise their petitions to God.
“Jesus Christ carries on intercession for us in heaven; the Holy Ghost carries on intercession for us on earth; and we the saints have to carry on intercession for all men” – Oswald Chambers
