God is my Refuge

My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge and my Savior— from violent threats you save us.

It was the 9th of February, 2019. My wife Sharel, 4year old daughter Andrea, 3month old son Aiden and I set out to Mangalore at dawn. As we were driving at around 8.30am we found ourselves in a life-threatening situation. Our car was at a high speed on the Hassan highway with my wife driving. All of a sudden, she dozed off, probably due to the fatigue of the previous night with the baby. I too was exhausted after work. Handholding for Household-ing!

When I joined the community, I’d heard a number of times, the words – Household Servant. Now to me, those two words didn’t go together. I know the meaning of a household and I know the meaning of a servant. But what is a household servant? I asked one of the community members and she went on to explain – It is referred to those who lead the community in different ways. There are household servants, chapter servants, country servant and so on. The term servant was used because they are servants of Christ, serving Him to build His kingdom. “Ah, okay” I remember nodding my head as if it made sense to me. But in my mind, I was, “Erm… ok, this is a little weird!” I didn’t want to be any servant. Continue reading

Jesus in my Heart

On February 3rd 2019, CFCI Singles – Bangalore put together a teaching and activity program for all children in the community, in the age group of 3.5 to 12 years. The activities were surrounding the theme inspired by Matthew 11:28-30-

“Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden light.”
